**** Highly recommended. Restrained ripe fruit, harmonised with elegant smokiness. Refined palate. Sufficient depth underneath full fruit tannin structure. Will evolve well. 3-8 years

89/100. This property (which borders Lafite, Mouton, and Pontet Canet) is owned by the proprietors of Pichon-Lalande. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the 2000 is an elegant, nicely textured, smoky, sweet wine offering scents of caramels intermixed with blackcurrants, cherries, cedar, and licorice. Supple-textured and lush, it should be enjoyed over the next 6-7 years. A sleeper of the vintage.

Dense, ripe, blackberry fruit, with an exotically ripe overtone. Its young, oaky, vigorous, with high tannins and black cherry length. One to keep.

89-91. Seriously good Cabernet, with raspberry and grape skin. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a smoky, tobacco finish. Well done.

88-90. This is the finest offering yet produced under the administration of Madame de Lencquesaing (Pichon Lalandes owner). A succulent, concentrated, deep ruby/purpled-colored wine, it exhibits considerable finesse as well as copious black currant fruit intermixed with spice box, chocolate, and cedar. Sweet tannin and good acidity provide delineation. Anticipated maturity : 2002-2012. |
