Montepeloso NARDO 2003 Toskana Italien
Robert Parker: Fabio Chiarelotto is the charismatic proprietor of this small estate located in Suvereto, just up the road from Tua Rita. Chiarelotto’s emphasis is clearly in the vineyards, where in addition to the main varietals he produces, he has also planted a few rows of grapes not native to Tuscany such as Refosco and Schiopettino, which are typically found in Friuli. The vinification facilities are bare bones and the winemaking is as stripped down as possible. These are very pure, unadulterated, textbook expressions of Suvereto terroir.
92 Punke Robert Parkers The Wine Advocate: "Montepeloso’s 2005 Nardo presents a lovely vein of minerality that supports vibrant red cherries, smoke and earthiness. Medium in body with well-integrated tannins, it possesses gorgeous inner sweetness and perfume that carries through all the way to the finish. This is superb juice. In 2005, the Nardo is mostly Sangiovese with some Cabernet. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2017."
