TEMPRANILLO
Red grape, one of the main Spanish varieties. It generates aromatic wines of quality, balanced and of average acidity and graduation. Its flavour is very fruity and has a characteristic ruby colour, appreciable mainly in young wines, although it suits excellent for ageing. Based on the production areas, it receives a multitude of names: ull of lebre, tinto del país (red of the country), jacivera, red moriz, aragonez, arganda, red aragón, negra de mes (black of month), garnacho fono, tinto riojana, cencibel, chinchillana, escobera, vid de Aranda (grapevine of Aranda), verdiell, tempranillo de la Rioja, grenache de Logroño, tempranilla, cencibera, tinto de Madrid (red of Madrid), etc. It is the main variety in the denominations of Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Calatayud, Cigales, Conca de Barberá, Costers del Segre, La Mancha, Somontano, Utiel-Requena, Valdepeñas and Vinos de Madrid.

Bodegas Cristo de la Vega is based on a surfaceof 150,000 square meters, in the heart of Castilla la Mancha (the land of the famous novel from Miguel de Cervantes : “Don Quijote de la Mancha”), with an altitude of 680 ms over the level of the sea, between the water-bearing 19, 23 and 24, in the zone called “Cuenca del Alto Guadiana” (the River basin of the Alto Guadiana). Thus, the altitude over the level of the sea, its limestone soil and its fresh water contributes to produce wines of an insurmountable quality.
The Denomination of Origin La Mancha, in addition to the geographic identification, the land of Castilla and a close relationship between the vineyard and the winery, allow to obtain an exceptional quality, recognized by specialists as well as by consumers.
Nowadays, we can proudly say that Bodegas Cristo de la Vega is one of the most important wineries of Europe, as production and facilities are concerned. Moreover, the quality of its wines is totally recognised as they are elaborated with the best techniques and using the most modern technologies.
Our products are exported to countries like the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Russia, Japan, the United States, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Denmark, Belgium, Poland and the Netherlands among others, representing approximately 80% of our sales.
