Simonsig Chenin Blanc Stellenbosch Südafrika 2010
Background: Simonsig Chenin Blanc was the first wine released by founder Frans Malan in 1968. After 33 vintages it is now reaching new levels of popularity worldwide. Chenin Blanc makes up more than 25% of the national vineyard and its versatility and fresh fruit appeal is being rediscovered
Vintage: The biggest portion of our Chenin grapes are sourced from the Koelenhof (Greater Simonsberg) area. The weathered shale soils of this terroir brings out the intense aromatic fruitiness and full bodied structure of fully ripe Chenin blanc grapes. In 2005 a small crop and warm dry conditions produced high degrees of sugar and a high percentage of raisined berries and even some highly sought after Botrytis. Rich and more full bodied than 2004.
Cellaring: Early drinking style, at its best within 2 years of vintage date.
Serving: Easy drinking style. Enjoy while youthful and still showing fermentation bouquet.
